Equestrian Trails Elementary ranks No. 68 and Panther Run Elementary No. 85 among Florida's public elementary schools in the 2027 U.S. News rankings.

Two Wellington elementary schools are among the 100 best public elementary schools in Florida, according to the 2027 U.S. News & World Report rankings.

Equestrian Trails Elementary ranks No. 68 in the state. Panther Run Elementary ranks No. 85.

The School District of Palm Beach County announced the list Thursday in a news release. Twelve district schools made the state’s K-8 top 100: six elementary schools and six middle schools.

No Wellington middle school made the middle school list.

The county’s top 100 elementary schools

The district’s release lists these six elementary schools and their statewide ranks:

School Florida rank
Morikami Park Elementary 5
Waters Edge Elementary 15
Marsh Pointe Elementary 63
Equestrian Trails Elementary, Wellington 68
Panther Run Elementary, Wellington 85
Beacon Cove Intermediate 90

Equestrian Trails is at 9720 Stribling Way. Panther Run is at 10775 Lake Worth Road. It has a Lake Worth mailing address, but the campus is inside the village.

“This level of performance is driven by the everyday dedication of our teachers, school leaders, support staff, students, and families,” Superintendent Mike Burke said in the release.

How U.S. News ranks schools

The state rankings use four measures, each worth 25%, the district said:

  • math proficiency
  • math performance
  • reading proficiency
  • reading performance

Both schools also earned an A in Florida’s 2026 school grades. At Panther Run, 85% of students tested on grade level in English and 91% in math. At Equestrian Trails, the figures were 87% and 88%. Those numbers come from the Florida Department of Education’s 2026 school grades file.

Both were also on the state’s 2026 Schools of Excellence list earlier this month, with six other Wellington schools.

The high school list

U.S. News released its high school rankings in August. Five district high schools made the Florida top 100, the district said. None is in Wellington. Suncoast Community High in Riviera Beach ranked highest, at No. 8.

What it means for you

  • To find your zoned school, each school page linked above lists its attendance zone and the middle and high schools it feeds into. Our Wellington public schools guide covers every public school in the village.
  • To apply to a school outside your zone, students can apply to any district school with open seats, the district said. Call the Office of Admissions and Family Experience at 561-434-8197 or email admissions@palmbeachschools.org.
  • On the Nov. 3 ballot, Palm Beach County voters decide whether to continue the district’s 1-mill property tax for schools. The district says it pays for teacher salary supplements averaging $8,000 a year and 900 teacher positions. Our voting guide explains how to vote.
