Early voting

You can vote at any early voting site the county opens, not just the one nearest your home. The Supervisor of Elections lists the sites on its early voting page. It also lets you book an optional 15-minute appointment to skip the line through its appointment system. Early voting sites use ExpressVote equipment, and you can drop off a completed mail ballot at any site during early voting hours.

Registering

The deadline to register for the Nov. 3 election was Oct. 5. You can still register, or update your address or name, for later elections at the state’s RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov site or in person at the Supervisor of Elections’ main office, 4301 Cherry Road, West Palm Beach. If you moved within the county, update your address so you are sent to the right polling place.

Voting by mail

From the Division of Elections’ vote-by-mail page:

  • Ask the Supervisor of Elections for a ballot by 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22. You need your Florida driver’s license or ID number, or the last four digits of your Social Security number.
  • Your voted ballot must be received by 7 p.m. on Election Day. A postmark does not count.
  • Drop it at an early voting site during early voting hours, or at a Supervisor of Elections office.
  • Check your ballot’s status with the state’s vote-by-mail lookup.

What to bring

The Supervisor of Elections asks for one or two forms of current ID that together show your photo and signature. Accepted photo IDs include:

  • Florida driver’s license or Florida ID card
  • U.S. passport
  • Debit or credit card
  • Military, student, retirement center or neighborhood association ID
  • Public assistance ID or Veteran Health ID card
  • Concealed weapon license
  • A federal, state, county or city government employee ID

If you forget your ID you can still vote, but on a provisional ballot that the county’s Canvassing Board later reviews.

On the ballot

Your sample ballot is on the Supervisor of Elections’ website. Two items that touch every Wellington property owner:

  • A proposed state constitutional amendment that would raise the homestead exemption for non-school property taxes to $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028. It needs 60% of the vote. Wellington estimates it would cut village property tax revenue by about $6.2 million a year once fully in place. See our property tax guide.
  • The school district’s 1-mill operating levy, which would continue from July 1, 2027 through June 30, 2031. The ballot question is on the district’s referendum page.

Village elections

Wellington elects its mayor and four council members in nonpartisan elections held on the second Tuesday in March, under Section 9 of the village charter. Terms are staggered, so voters choose some seats every two years. The mayor and two council members hold terms that run 2024 to 2028, and two council members were elected to terms running 2026 to 2030. The next village election is in March 2028, according to the village’s election information page.
