- Peaceful Waters Sanctuary, 11676 Pierson Road, inside Village Park: a 30-acre wetland with 1,500 feet of raised boardwalk and a mile of walking trails, good for bird watching. No admission fee; it closes daily at dusk. The village’s utilities department says the constructed wetlands recycle treated water and have drawn more than 150 bird species.
- Wellington Environmental Preserve at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Everglades Habitat, also called Section 24, at 3491 Flying Cow Ranch Road: a 410-acre rainwater storage area built with the South Florida Water Management District. It has a paved path, a boardwalk, a butterfly garden, seven learning areas, a six-story observation tower and a 3.6-mile perimeter bridle trail. No admission fee.
Bridle trails
The village maintains 15 color-named bridle paths, from the Black Trail to the Yellow Trail, mapped on its equestrian trails page. The village describes more than 57 miles of trails open for riding, hiking, biking and running; its Environmental Preserve page puts the bridle network at about 65 miles.
E-bikes and e-scooters are banned on all public bridle trails under Ordinance 2026-16, to protect riders and horses. A second 2026 ordinance bars them from Wellington Town Center, all neighborhood parks and the Heart Trail at Village Park at posted times.
