Last checked Oct. 10, 2026. Facts on this page come from the Palm Beach County Tax Collector, the Palm Beach County Property Appraiser and the Village of Wellington. Updated each fall when new rates and bills come out.
Three offices handle the property tax on a Wellington home. The Property Appraiser sets the value and handles exemptions. Each taxing body, including the village, the county and the School Board, sets its own rate. The Tax Collector mails the bill and takes the money. The 2026 bills go out by Nov. 1. The village’s own rate is 2.47 mills, unchanged from last year.

When the bill is due
The Tax Collector’s property tax page says bills go out by Nov. 1 to the address the Property Appraiser has on file and can be paid from Nov. 1 to March 31. Paying early earns a discount:
| Pay in | Discount | 2026 bill deadline |
|---|---|---|
| November | 4% | Monday, Nov. 30 |
| December | 3% | Thursday, Dec. 31 |
| January | 2% | Monday, Feb. 1, 2027 (Jan. 31 is a Sunday) |
| February | 1% | Monday, March 1, 2027 (Feb. 28 is a Sunday) |
| March | none | Wednesday, March 31, 2027 |
Taxes not paid by March 31 become delinquent April 1. Florida law moves a deadline that falls on a weekend or holiday to the next business day, the Tax Collector says. If you did not get a bill, check your address with the Property Appraiser.
The Wellington rate
The Village Council has kept its rate at 2.47 mills. The Property Appraiser’s 2026 proposed millage chart (PDF) lists Wellington at 2.47 for both 2025 and 2026. The rollback rate, which would raise the same money as last year, was 2.3587 mills. The council’s Sept. 22 final budget hearing carried the same 2.47 rate, which the village’s budget overview says raises $32.7 million, 4.72% above the rollback rate. Each 0.01 mill is worth about $132,000 to the village.
One mill is $1 for every $1,000 of taxable value, so the village’s share on a home with a $400,000 taxable value is about $988.
Wellington is one line on the bill. These are the other rates on the same chart that a Wellington address carries:
| Taxing authority | 2025 final | 2026 proposed |
|---|---|---|
| Village of Wellington | 2.4700 | 2.4700 |
| Palm Beach County (operating) | 4.5000 | 4.5000 |
| Palm Beach County (debt) | 0.0330 | 0.0210 |
| County Fire Rescue | 3.4581 | 3.4581 |
| County Library | 0.5491 | 0.5491 |
| School Board, state rate | 3.0730 | 3.0390 |
| School Board, local rate | 3.2480 | 3.2480 |
| Health Care District | 0.6561 | 0.6561 |
| Children’s Services Council | 0.4908 | 0.4908 |
| South Florida Water Management District (three levies) | 0.2301 | 0.2301 |
| Florida Inland Navigation District | 0.0270 | 0.0270 |
Wellington’s fire and emergency medical service comes from Palm Beach County Fire Rescue, which runs four stations in the village, so the county fire-rescue rate is on a Wellington bill. The Acme Improvement District drainage charge and the solid waste charge are flat assessments, not millage. Your TRIM notice from August lists exactly which rates and assessments apply to your parcel.
The chart: who sets the rate
The School Board takes the largest share of a Wellington bill. The village’s property tax reform analysis puts it simply: 19 cents of every property tax dollar goes to Wellington and Acme, and 32 cents goes to schools.
The amendment on the November ballot
The Nov. 3 ballot carries a constitutional amendment that would replace the $50,000 homestead exemption on non-school taxes with $150,000 in 2027 and $250,000 in 2028, and cut the yearly cap on assessment increases for non-homestead property from 10% to 5%. It needs 60% of the vote. The village’s analysis estimates Wellington would lose about $3.2 million in property tax revenue in the first year and about $6.2 million a year by the second. See our voting guide for the dates.
Homestead exemption
If the home is your permanent residence on Jan. 1, the homestead exemption takes $25,000 off the assessed value for all taxes, and a second exemption, up to $25,722 for 2025, off non-school taxes. File by March 1; the Property Appraiser says missing that date waives the exemption for the year. Homestead also caps how much your assessed value can rise each year at 3% or the change in the Consumer Price Index, whichever is lower.
How to appeal your value
The value on your TRIM notice is the one to challenge. According to the Property Appraiser’s petition page:
- Ask the Property Appraiser for an informal review first.
- If that does not settle it, file a petition with the Value Adjustment Board, which may charge up to $20.
- The deadline is the 25th day after TRIM notices are mailed. For 2026 it was Sept. 14, so this year’s window has closed. Talking to the appraiser does not extend it.
