Wellington is a village with a council-manager government: five elected members, the mayor included, set policy, and a village manager they appoint runs day-to-day operations. Each member, including the mayor, has one vote. Wellington has no police or fire department of its own; it contracts with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, and Palm Beach County Fire Rescue runs four fire stations in the village.
