New Year’s Eve is Thursday, Dec. 31, 2026. As of Oct. 10, neither the village nor a Wellington venue had announced a New Year’s Eve event, countdown or fireworks show. We will add them here as they are posted. What is settled: home fireworks are legal that night under state law but banned all year in Wellington’s Equestrian Preserve Area, and village trash pickup runs as normal on New Year’s Day.

Events
No 2026 New Year’s Eve event had been announced in Wellington by Oct. 10: the village calendar and the Amphitheater schedule list nothing that night.
What the village did last season: it kicked off 2026 and its 30th anniversary of incorporation with a celebration at Town Center on Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, at the Amphitheater, according to its anniversary page. The village says Billy Joel stopped by to sing two songs with the tribute band the Turnstiles. That was a one-time milestone; the village has not said whether it will hold a New Year event this season.
Restaurants: we list New Year’s Eve dinners and parties only when a venue announces them on its own website. None had by Oct. 10. Our date night and live music and nightlife guides list the places to watch.

Fireworks: what the law allows
From the village’s fireworks safety page:
- Under Florida Statute 791.08, the only days fireworks may be used without a permit are New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and Independence Day.
- Personal fireworks are prohibited year-round in Wellington’s Equestrian Preserve Area, even on those days. The village page shows the preserve boundaries. Horses and other livestock can be frightened by fireworks, it notes.
- Using fireworks illegally is a first-degree misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office enforces it all year.
- Signing a “waiver” to buy fireworks does not protect you if you use them illegally.
The village’s safety tips: set them off on a flat, hard surface in an open area, light one at a time, never relight a dud, keep children and pets away, and keep water or an extinguisher close. Sparklers can reach 1,000 to 2,000 degrees, the village says.
